What is camera-ready copy?

The term camera ready means that the copy you supply us is complete and ready to be printed, as is. The printing plate will be made from the copy you provide us. Therefore the quality of the printed piece will be the same as that of the camera-ready copy. Do not submit camera-ready copy on colored paper.

What is a bleed?

Printers require a certain amount of white space (usually 1/3 inch) around the edges of a printed page. When printing must go outside this area, usually to the edge of the page, it is known as a "bleed." In order to produce a bleed, a larger sheet of paper is used and then the edges are cut after printing.

What is typesetting?

Typesetting is the term used for producing the layout of your printed piece. It involves typing words, adding images, and positioning on the page. What is a proof?A proof is a draft version of the printed piece, which is given to the customer, to be checked for content and positioning. When can I expect delivery of my order?

Our delivery time is generally 7-10 working days from final proof approval. When we quote your order, our delivery time will take into account the time required for pre-press operations (typesetting), printing, and finishing (cutting, folding, or stitching). We realize that it’s not always possible to plan ahead. If you need your job sooner, we will do everything we can to meet your needs. It is very important that any special delivery needs you have, such as a specific mailing date, be specified to us at the time you place your order.

What colors of ink can I use?

Black is the most inexpensive ink color and works well for all applications. If you prefer to use a colored ink, our standard colors are blue (process & reflex), red, teal, burgundy and green. Special inks are more expensive, but may be necessary if you are trying to match a color exactly. When an exact color match is required, PMS (Pantone® Matching System) ink is used and is designated by a number (for example, PMS 320). If you’re uncertain of the PMS number, we can match it for you.

How many colors of ink can I use?

There is no limit to the number of inks you can use. However, by choosing 2 or more different colors, there will be factors that affect your final price. The more colors you use, the more the price will increase. Printing 2 ink colors close to each other (within 1/16" of each other or touching) is considered close registration and is more expensive.
